So, I am a HUGH slacker! I haven't written a blog post in a very long time. But thanks to the new year that's all going to change starting today.
I should begin with an update on the 150 days of freedom since that is the last you heard from me. Well, I both failed and exceeded. I managed to break my soda and cheeze-it habit completely however, wheat is another story all together. I did learn that maybe wheat isn't the bad guy that it is made out to be. I don't have a wheat allergy or sensitivity. So, maybe my issue with wheat is the same issue everyone else has, over indulgence. The downfall is that by going off of my program I managed to gain 20 pounds...yikes!!
January has always been the perfect time for change. With January also comes my birthday so it holds even more incentive for me to reinvent myself. Thanks to the start of the new year I am not alone. So, January 19, 2015 begins the 4 Hour Body program.
Why this program?
- I get to eat Mexican food, minus rice
- I get to eat guacamole, this stuff is awesome
- I get to drink coffee
- I get to stick to my minimal workout routines, HIIT
- I get to EAT
- I get 1 cheat day a week, no limitations on what I can eat though I will monitor how much I eat
There will be some struggle:
- Eliminating snacks, I have become accustomed to eating them
- Eating 1 hour after I wake up
- No yogurt, but that's what cheat days are for right???
To receive the full benefits of this program, I am going to focus on what I get to do instead of what I can't do. I know what you are going to say, "but Sarah, you said, 'you wanted to focus on eating healthy and not dieting.'" I did and that is still my plan however, I learned 2 things about myself and my journey
- I do better when I have a stricter program to follow
- The journey does not end when I reach my goal
The best part is that this plan is similar to the personal plan that my family follows. It will also allow me to edit it as I grow closer to my goal and long after I complete my goal.
This is not a fad diet.
I read Tim Ferriss' book, The 4 Hour Body. It was captivating, educational and enjoyable. I think everyone who struggles with their weight or body in general should read this book. It gave me the A-HA moment I needed to get back on track. One that I hope will help drive me through the rough times. You see, I need immediate results and when I don't get them I give up and lose site of my goal. Mr. Optimistic and I will be following the 4 Hour Body program. Everyone else i feed will be following my food program. My food program is good, it works and will be the plan I follow once my goal is reached.
That is an excellent book and very easy to follow! Read and follow it myself. Love my cheat day!
ReplyDeleteI am excited to see the results. I am glad to hear someone else is follow it too. I would love any helpful hints or suggestions you would like to share :-)
